RSS Feeds: A New Way to Receive Library Information

The Library is using new technology to provide access to current information. You may have seen links to “RSS” on websites such as CNN and others that frequently update news content. RSS allows users to customize and subscribe to the information they need. Not all websites provide RSS, but it is growing in popularity. The Library recently set up several types of RSS “feeds”: new books, new electronic resources, issues in scholarly communication, and Library news. For more information, visit www.library.uiuc.edu/scholcomm/whatisrss.htm. If you are familiar with RSS, you can access a list of Library blogs (weblogs) and RSS feeds at www.library.uiuc.edu/blogs/.
