New Online Library Catalog System

This summer the Library implemented a new web-based system to enhance the functionality of its Online Library Catalog. The project is the result of a cooperative effort by the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO), a consortium of 44 Illinois libraries that share an online catalog and work together to enhance access to information resources.

The new system utilizes software by Endeavor Information Systems, and it replaces both the DRA ( Data Research Associates) Web and Telnet interfaces previously used. It improves access to consortial holdings by allowing users to more efficiently search, find, and borrow materials. Ultimately, it also will provide quicker access to new materials through its integration with other Library systems.

The new system is fully operational (both for online searching and requesting) for materials held by UIUC and other ILCSO libraries. For current information, including "What's New and Different," visit:

Comments about the Online Library Catalog may be sent to catalog@library.uiuc.edu. For questions about finding materials, please "Ask a Librarian" at reflib@library.uiuc.edu or http://www.library.uiuc.edu/ugl/vr/ or call 217-333-2290.
