Online Access to Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is an important and popular service for researchers who need materials that are not available on campus. A new system, ILLiad, now provides the convenience of placing and tracking orders online. ILLiad is offered through the Borrowing Office in the Library's Information Resource Retrieval Center (IRRC).

From the Main Menu, researchers can submit orders and review their personal accounts, including the status of active orders, history of completed requests, and notices about orders that have been canceled. They also can retrieve requests that have been filled electronically. All data resides on a secure server where the information is kept completely confidential.

In addition to the benefits provided to requesters, ILLiad allows Library staff to process orders more quickly due to the speed of transferring data to and from prospective lending libraries.

Faculty may register for the new service at: http://www.library.uiuc.edu/irrc/borrow.htm.
