Volume 2, Issue 2, Spring 2000 New Library Tradition Honors Faculty This fall the Library began a new tradition that honors campus faculty who are promoted to the positions of associate and full professor. Faculty are invited to select a book, which is personalized with a bookplate that records the person's name and promotion information. The book may be a title from the Library's existing collections or a new addition. "Faculty are asked to choose books that have special meaning to them, either professionally or personally," says Karen Schmidt, associate university librarian for collections. In recognition of their accomplishments, faculty also are invited to a reception during which the books are displayed with their comments. Afterwards, the books are moved to an exhibit in the north-south corridor of the Main Library building. |
